You will assist with the provision of professional high quality midwifery care within the Mixed medical/surgical/midwifery Forgie ward and labour and Birthing Unit at Gawler Health Service. Assessing individual women’s needs, you will plan, implement or coordinate appropriate service delivery from a range of accepted options. You will also provide health education, counselling and rehabilitation programs to improve the health outcomes of individual patients or groups. It is expected that you will provide support and guidance to newer or less experienced nursing and midwifery staff. Consolidating your knowledge and skills, you will develop in capability through continuous professional development and experience and maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary health care team. The Gawler Health Service is a Team STEPPS site, with 600 births per year, opportunities to work across the whole continuum of pregnancy. Forgie ward also provides services and care to surgical and medical clients within the ward and unit area.  We offer the best of a country health working environment within close proximity to metropolitan Adelaide. Gawler Health Service has obstetrics and gynaecology specialists, GP's,  midwives and Nurses ensuring 24-hour a day high-quality care.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Midwife by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With demonstrated clinical competence in the full scope of  Midwifery practice in accordance with the appropriate standards, you will have effective communication skills, including problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills. With the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and prioritise workloads, you will be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting. Inclusion  within the oncall caseload model is mandatory
