You will provide clinical nursing expertise for Rheumatology patients and their families at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital (WCH), and provide clinical leadership for this clinical area of practice. You will primarily hold responsibility for the provision of a specialist nursing service delivering care, education and support to families living with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) and other rheumatologic diagnoses through the WCH. You will assume a pivotal clinical support and education role for JIA Rheumatology patients and their families that is sensitive to patients’ needs, innovative and based on evidence-based clinical practice. Implementing a state-wide support program for families with children with JIA, you will act as a specialist nurse to patients with childhood rheumatic conditions and be a resource for other professionals within primary and secondary care services. You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. Demonstrating an advanced level of nursing practice in the care and management of rheumatology patients, you will have the ability to work both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Past experience in developing policies, procedures and models of care in the relevant area of clinical practice will be ideal.
