You will provide expertise in the delivery of high quality clinical genetic services for patients experiencing genetic disorders of childhood, as well as delivering pregnancy-related genetic counselling within the Paediatric and Reproductive Genetics Unit at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital. Ensuring that the SA Clinical Genetics Service’s clinical database is used effectively, you will provide expert clinical genetics advice, information and training to colleagues, referring medical practitioners and other healthcare professionals in South Australia. You will also contribute to education and research activities within the Unit, and encourage and support teamwork amongst staff for optimal clinical service outcomes. The Women's and Children's Hospital (WCH) provides state of the art health care for women and children in Adelaide and South Australia. It is South Australia’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions and SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service. It also provides important community-based services. Each year, more than 30,000 people are admitted and about 5,000 babies are born at the hospital. In addition more than 250,000 people come to the hospital as outpatients annually.


Holding a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent appropriate specialist qualifications, you will be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with specialist registration. With experience in Paediatric and Reproductive Genetics clinical service provision, you will bring the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will need to have well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work with individuals and families for positive health outcomes and to foster productive working relationships.
