You will assist with the provision of professional, high quality patient care within the Stroke & Neurology Ward at the Lyell McEwin Hospital. Striving to improve patient health outcomes, you will be responsible for assessing individual patient needs and planning, implementing and coordinating appropriate care from a range of accepted options. You will also provide health education, counselling and rehabilitation programs to improve the health outcomes of individual patients or groups. Providing evidenced based care and developing your clinical skills while keeping up to date with professional standards of practice, you will recognise and respond to clinical deterioration or other incidents and escalate appropriately. If appointed as a Clinical Nurse, you will act as a resource person based on your nursing knowledge, experience and skills, and assist with the supervision and teaching of students, new staff and staff with less experience.

 

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With demonstrated competence in person-centred nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards, you will have effective communication skills including problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills. If appointed at the RN2 level, you will have prior experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses. With the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and prioritise workloads, you will be creative, innovative and flexible when approaching issues within a healthcare setting.
