This is your chance to make a significant difference in the lives of Aboriginal young people who have experienced considerable trauma, engaging in collaborative practice with Aboriginal Mental Health Consultants and Aboriginal families to achieve lasting change. Utilising your knowledge and experience, you will be responsible for the promotion of positive mental health outcomes for young people in the Journey Home Program through the identification, assessment and clinical management of a range of social, emotional, behavioural and psychiatric issues. You will work collaboratively with Aboriginal young people, their families and communities to support the development of positive contributions and connections, and through this develop alternatives to offending behaviour and assist in the improvement of their mental health. You will share your expert clinical knowledge, skills and experience in the application of clinical direction, support, orientation and education to staff within the Service, and lead and participate in action research projects, quality improvement activities and policy development within the practice setting.

 

For appointment at the AHP2 level, you will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Clinical Psychology. For appointment at the RN2 level, you will be registered by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold a current practicing certificate as well as a qualification in Mental Health practice. Having worked before within a multidisciplinary team and with a range of agencies, you will be experienced in providing advanced clinical services to children, adolescents and their families experiencing a wide range of emotional and behavioural disturbance.
