The Principal Clinician, Psychology SABIRS is responsible for the provision and management of specialised, high quality Clinical Psychology services delivered across SABIRS by managing and evaluating best practice, maintaining high level clinical standards and implementing innovative clinical practices. The role involves recruitment and supervision of psychology staff across SABIRS, contributing to service wide development and evaluation, responding to SABIRS Psychology issues and needs as well as managing a complex caseload and providing a high quality, evidence-based clinical psychology service to clients and their families in the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Community and Home (BIRCH) program based at Hampstead Rehabilitation Centre. BIRCH is a specialised interdisciplinary team that provides rehabilitation for adults with an acquired brain injury in a community setting. Clients of SABIRS have complex physical, emotional, cognitive, perceptual, communication, social and/or behavioural issues frequently compounded by medical, mental health and substance abuse difficulties. The BIRCH service specialises in providing skilled management of this highly complex group. In addition, BIRCH provides consultative and specialist support to other therapists and services relating to Acquired Brain Injury Rehabilitation.

The role requires experience in leadership and management of a clinical psychology area, experience working with individuals with an acquired brain injury or neurological condition, advanced skills in counselling, psychological assessment and evidence-based interventions and a deep understanding of what constitutes best practice in brain injury rehabilitation. The role also requires experience working in cooperative team settings and effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills. 

You will require an appropriate degree (Masters Degree in Clinical or Health Psychology) or equivalent qualification recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA), general registration with the PsyBA, be endorsed in either Clinical and/or Health Psychology area of practice, be eligible for membership with the College of Clinical Psychologists and be a board approved supervisor with the PsyBA at all levels of supervision.
