You will provide Ultrasound procedures for clients across a range of clinical specialities at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, with a high level of professional independence. You will contribute to quality clinical outcomes for patients by providing services that form the basis of patient diagnosis and subsequent treatment and management by Radiologists, referring clinicians and surgeons. You will undertake complex procedures as an independent operator applying professional knowledge across a broad range of Ultrasound procedures, using your initiative in selecting and adapting methods best suited to each clinical situation. As a Specialist Sonographer, you will be expected to mentor and train staff at all levels of knowledge to include safety, physics and imaging principles and hardware as assigned by the Head Sonographer. The new Royal Adelaide Hospital is the largest hospital in South Australia, providing world class health care and facilities. The most advanced hospital in Australia, the new RAH is the cornerstone of the reformed SA Health system and is the major trauma, neurosurgery and spinal injuries centre in the State. With such a diverse range of patients seen, a wide range of imaging procedures are performed in the Medical Imaging Department.

You will need to hold an appropriate Ultrasound postgraduate qualification and be registered as an Accredited Medical Sonographer as administered by the Australasian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR). With proven ability to perform a wide range of Ultrasound imaging procedures, including specialised and complex procedures, you will be capable of working both in a multidisciplinary team and individually, with a high level of independence. Flexible to departmental changes and willing to positively interact in these processes, you will bring the ability to interact positively and work with all levels of medical imaging and organisational staff.
