Kanggawodli is a purpose-built facility providing culturally appropriate accommodation and care to Aboriginal clients from rural and remote SA and interstate who are in Adelaide for medical appointments or treatment, and their carers or escorts. As the Accommodation Service Coordinator, you will oversee the activities and rostering of the Accommodation Service Officers who provide social, cultural and practical support to clients and escorts accessing Kanggawodli and associated services. Determining and allocating work priorities each shift, you will prepare and maintain rosters for the accommodation services, and advise and assist staff to ensure appropriate procedures and safe work practices are maintained. Responding to individual needs and priorities, you will communicate any identified needs with team members, team leaders and other relevant people whilst maintaining client confidentiality. This will include identifying diversional therapy/recreational programs, facilitating access to recreation and leisure opportunities, assisting in the coordination of accommodation and travel for clients, and providing a translation service where required.

Holding an AQF Certificate III relevant to the position, you will have experience working with Aboriginal people, families and communities. With a sound understanding of Aboriginal culture and its impact on health, social and emotional wellbeing, and be confident in supervising staff to provide a culturally appropriate service. You will work well as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and bring the ability to listen to clients, determine needs and respond accordingly whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality. You must also have the ability to provide a range of personal care and domestic assistance to people in a way that promotes their independence, values, rights and dignity.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check.
