This role presents an opportunity to practice palliative care in a supportive team environment. Laurel Hospice is a new and beautiful facility with links to Flinders University and opportunities for professional development. Optimising the patient and family experience for those receiving care in Laurel Hospice, you will undertake assessment, care planning, nursing care and evaluation of care provided within the specialise palliative care unit. Working with patients with a life limiting illness, you will engage in complex symptom management and care planning/activation with patients and their families. You will also provide bereavement support with a high degree of sensitivity and compassion, and support less experienced staff by role modelling excellence in clinical practice. The Southern Adelaide Local Health Network provides care for around 341,000 people living in the Southern Metropolitan area of Adelaide as well as providing a number of state-wide services, and services to those regional areas. More than 7,000 skilled staff provides high quality patient care, education, research and health promoting services.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, and hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate. With demonstrated competence in specialist palliative care practice in accordance with the appropriate standards, you will have effective communication skills, including problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills. With the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, you will have a demonstrated commitment to providing consumer and family centred care.
