Working under the delegation, monitoring and supervision of Allied Health professionals in the South East Regional Community Health Service (SERCHS) Physiotherapy Department, you will assist in the planning, preparation and provision of physiotherapy services to clients of the SERCHS, the Mount Gambier & Districts Health Service and to the community. These services are aimed at ensuring clients’ recovery from illness, surgery or dysfunction, and return to their optimum level of functioning as soon as possible. Undertaking manual handling of clients either with or for the Physiotherapist before, during or following treatment, you will play a key role in the preparation of resources and items for the efficient and effective running of groups and individual sessions following specific plans and programs. You will also assist with supervising patient exercise programs and group exercise, organising walking aids for clients, and assisting in splint making/application.

To be successful in this role, you will have prior experience in working with clients who are acutely ill, in pain or disabled. You will also have a sound understanding of the principles of manual handling within the OHS&W guidelines. A self-starter who can work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team setting, you will demonstrate the ability to respond sensitively to the needs of clients, their families and carers. This will go hand-in-hand with your skills in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, with people of various cultures and backgrounds. The ability to manage confidential client information will also be essential.
