You will provide specialist assessment, counselling and psychosocial interventions, therapeutic rehabilitation services and programs to improve self-efficacy, recovery and health outcomes for individuals, couples, families or groups with drug and alcohol issues. You will be working within a multidisciplinary primary health care setting, striving to improve client’s health by early identification and treatment of co-existing conditions. Ensuring responsiveness of service programs to specific patients, hospitals and health services, you will undertake comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessment of client’s needs, plan, implement, evaluate and coordinate appropriate and comprehensive service delivery, including home based withdrawal in collaboration with GPs. Working in an evidence-based service delivery framework, you will have access to excellent professional development opportunities and the support of our regional team. This role services the locations of Ceduna.

You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, hold or be eligible to hold a current practicing certificate and have a minimum of three years post registration experience. With an understanding of or a demonstrated experience in working with clients with alcohol and other drug health problems in an acute hospital or community setting, you will be skilled in counselling clients at risk. You will also be confident in working with clients and communities experiencing diverse and complex problems, including homelessness and family violence. A confident communicator with excellent negotiation skills, you will be capable of delivering community education and training, psycho-social assessment, case management, counselling, client advocacy, managing aggressive/disruptive clients in unpredictable environments, and early intervention programs.

*Please note the Ceduna position may attract an additional Recruitment and Retention allowance.
